Mission

Hope Leadership Academy (Hope) is a teen center that gives adolescents a safe place to process their feelings on violence and victimization, and shows them how to derive strength from their experiences so that they can feel empowered rather than hopeless.

Activities

The main focus at Hope Leadership Academy at the Children's Aid Society is to help participants gain the tools and confidence to excel in high school, gain entrance to a college and succeed in graduating with a college degree. At HOPE, teens are provided with a range of opportunities to develop the skills and competencies they need to succeed in all aspect of their lives. This year our services include:

1:1 support from a success mentor
Academic Enrichment ( tutoring and homework help)
Life skills Workshops
College and Career Awareness/Exploration Groups
Family Life and Sex Education
Culinary Arts
1:1 and group Academic Tutoring/ Homework Help
Internship Programs

The program operates Monday – Friday from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Teens that are accepted into the program are required to participate in Academic Enrichment activities and can choose other activities based on their interest and availability.

Eligibility

Participants Must Reside In Or Attend School In The Neighborhood Development Area (Manhattan Nda 11- New York City), Participant’S Household Income Must Be At Or Below 125% Of The Federal Poverty Guidelines, Participants Must Be At Risk For Academic Failure (73 Or Lower) In At Least One Subject, Or Overall Gpa, Overage-Under Credited, Or At Risk For Dropping Out.
