The East Harlem Talent Network‘s mission is to strengthen the East Harlem community by providing solutions for sustainable employment in East Harlem and its surrounding communities. We believe in building relationships with local employers to encourage local hiring, as our message is to “invest in your business by investing in the community you serve.” We are dedicated to providing quality, skilled candidates that employers would be proud to hire. East Harlem Talent Network (EHTN) serves not only the East Harlem community but the five boroughs by providing employment opportunities and gathering and sharing resources.

We at East Harlem Talent Network offer a FREE two week training in the restaurant and hospitality industry called Serve UP Harlem. The training is for youth 18-24 year of age and is two weeks long taking place Monday- Friday 9am-5pm with Friday’s being early days. Student will learn job readiness skills such as resume building, the importance of a cover letter and interviewing skills. There is also a financial literacy component to teach the students about their financial future and how to save for it. Students will also be completing Cornell University’s Service Excellence training. During the second week of training students will participate in a 4 day internship to gain both front and back of the house experience with the first half of the day spent in the classroom and then from 1:30pm-5pm working at the internship site. After the 4-day internships students may be asked to continue their hands on training for an additional 3 weeks where we (East Harlem Talent Network) will pay those individuals salary during the 3 additional weeks at a max of 20 hours per week and at the New York Standards minimum wage rate which is $11 an hour. After completing the two week students will receive a Cornell University Credential of completion and if not hired at internship site continued job placement support.
