Brooklyn Children’S Museum’S Teen Council Summer Program

  • Brooklyn Childrens Museum
  • (718) 735-4400 x189.

Mission

The mission of Brooklyn Children’s Museum is to engage children in educational and entertaining experiences through innovation and excellence in exhibitions, programs, and use of its collection.

Activities

The Brooklyn Children’s Museum Teen Council is dedicated to providing Brooklyn teens with their first job experience and supporting them in their transition to the working world through artistic development workshops and an enriching museum internship program.

During the summer of 2017 the Teen Council will focus on documentary film and
photojournalism as a way to explore advocacy through art. In a series of workshops
teens will learn about photography, journalism, digital photo editing, and curate their own exhibition while also learning about local politics, cultural institutions, and the many forms that advocacy can take on to impact our community. The Teen Art and Advocacy Council will meet on Wednesdays 4-6pm July 5th to August 9th. The museum internship days will take place Tuesdays-Sundays (depending on assignment) from July 5th- August 13th.
