College Now At Queensborough Community College
We offer high school students a taste of college life by permitting them to take college preparatory and college-level courses while still in high school.
College Now at Queensborough Community College makes it possible for qualified high school students to participate in either college preparatory classes or college-level courses given at their high schools or, in some cases, on the campus of Queensborough Community College. These courses are offered tuition free to the students and are held before or after the regular school day. Moreover, college credit enrolled students, once they get a QCC ID card for that semester, will have access to Queensborough Community College’s facilities, including the Kurt R. Schmeller Library Building, the Academic Computing Center, and the fitness facilities just to name a few.
Course offerings may vary each semester. The following is a list of past College Now courses: Fundamentals of Life Science, Plants and People, Business Organization and Management, Introduction to Microcomputer Applications,, English Composition, Computers in Modern Society, Science and Technology in Modern Life, Critical Issues in Health Education, Nutrition and Health, College Algebra, Foundation of Mathematics, Mathematics in Contemporary Society, Pre-Calculus Mathematics, Technical Graphics, Architectural Design, Computer-Aided Design, Speech, Acting.
Classes are offered in both the fall and spring semesters of each year. Most classes will be offered at the partner high schools; some classes will be offered on the campus of Queensborough Community College. Please consult your College Now high school liaison. College Now also offers Summer Programs on the QCC campus.
Classes meet before and after a student’s school day. Generally, students can expect a final exam and course work that may include quizzes, essays, papers, skills exercises and problem solving exercises as assigned by the instructor.
