New Media Arts Workshop – Youth Remixing History
- NYC Parks
- +12123602791
Mission
Our mission is to plan resilient and sustainable parks, public spaces, and recreational amenities, build a park system for present and future generations, and care for parks and public spaces.
Activities
Youth ReMixing History is a city-wide afterschool workshop that prepares high school students for college and a career in digital media arts as they create interactive websites exploring a community issue of relevance to them. Through the workshop they learn to update and remix an Educational Video Center archival social justice documentary, as well as shoot and edit video and still photography. With support from the Digital Media Learning Fund in the New York Community Trust, this partnership brings together the expertise of the Educational Video Center (EVC), the New York City Writing Project (NYCWP) and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreations RecYouth program (RecYouth NYCParks).
