Mission

Precollege Programs prepares students for the FIT admissions process, including creative arts portfolio development, and features the unique experience of being part of FIT's dynamic and diverse college campus and the cultural vibrancy of New York City that informs and enriches the college, its history and its campus community.

High School Internship Positions
SPRING AND FALL TERMS ONLY

Enterprise Center: Instructor Services and Clerical Assistant
High school junior or senior wanted to provide customer support to support the staff in the Enterprise Center by performing light clerical duties. Tasks include assisting the existing staff, archiving old files, filing, photocopying and retrieving office voice mails. The intern will also assist in preparing instructor materials. A student in this position will be required to familiarize him or herself with printed materials about the college and Enterprise Center Programs. Friendly manner and ease as well as professional behavior are part of the required qualities.
Requirements: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), pleasant demeanor, good organizational skills.
Hours: 10-15 hours per week, Mondays through Fridays, 9:30am-5:00pm.

Educational Opportunity Programs: Office Assistant
Opportunity: High school junior or senior wanted to perform light clerical duties in FIT's Office of Educational Opportunity Programs . Friendly manner and ease as well as professional behavior are part of the required qualities. Tasks to include: reception, log maintenance, incoming calls, mail stamp, assistance with events planning, inter-office mail delivery. Professional attire required.
Requirements: Pleasant demeanor, professional appearance, and good organizational skills.
2 positions available.
Hours: Mondays-Saturdays, 10-15 hours per week. Hours and days are flexible.

Precollege Programs: Customer Service and Blog Assistant
High school junior or senior wanted to provide customer support to students participating in the Precollege Programs and in performing light clerical duties. Tasks include assisting students with picking up class materials and attendance, photocopying and providing general information about the programs offered by the Precollege office. A student in this position will be required to familiarize him or herself with printed materials about the college and Precollege Programs. Student will also assist in writing, photographing and editing individual blog posts. Friendly manner and ease as well as professional behavior are part of the required qualities. Maintaining the Precollege Blog spot: In The Halls included.
Requirements: Basic knowledge of photography (digital). Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), pleasant demeanor, good organizational skills.
Preferred (but not required): Experience using WordPress
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Days: Tuesdays-Saturdays, hours and days are flexible.
Students must submit a writing sample approximately 200-400 words along along with samples of photography.
TOPIC: An introduction blog post. We want to know who you are! Some things you may want to include are where you are from, how many classes you have taken at FIT (if applicable), what your interests/passions/hobbies are, why you are excited about this opportunity to intern, what your goals are at FIT or for the future, etc. We want to know all about YOU! Have fun with it!!

Continuing and Professional Studies: Clerical Assistant
High school junior or senior wanted to assist with clerical duties, for noncredit Continuing Education seminars and special events. Tasks include typing, filing, photocopying, making signs, and occasionally making phone calls.
Requirements: Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), professional behavior, friendly demeanor, and great organizational skills.
Hours: 12-15 hours per week
Days: Monday-Fridays, 3:00pm-6:00pm. Hours are flexible.

Continuing and Professional Studies: Social Networking & Digital Media Assistant
High school junior or senior wanted to assist with social networking & digital media for noncredit Continuing Education seminars and special events. Tasks include light clerical duties, assisting with photographing classes and events, editing photos in Photoshop, writing blog posts, scheduling posts on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.
Requirements: Basic knowledge of digital photography, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word), good writing skills, professional behavior, friendly demeanor, and good organizational skills.
Hours: 8-15 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-6:00pm. Hours are flexible.
Students must submit a writing sample approximately 100 words long. Choose one:
TOPIC 1: Choose any designer from Style.com and review their current collection
TOPIC 2: Write about one specific trend for Spring 2016

Precollege Programs: Student Journalist
High school junior or senior wanted to identify success stories about our Precollege students and turn them into blog posts, Facebook posts, and newsletter announcements to share within FIT and with the public. Tasks include outreach to Precollege populations via email and classroom visits, follow-up interviews, research, and writing final pieces for publication. The intern in this position will be required to familiarize him or herself with printed materials about the college and Precollege Programs. Friendly manner and professional behavior are part of the required qualities.
Requirements: Exceptional writing skills . Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), Facebook and Wordpress, pleasant demeanor, good organizational skills.
Hours: 10 hours per week
Days: Saturdays to identify stories and conduct interviews (hours are flexible) and one weekday after school to research, write and post
Students must submit a writing sample approximately 200-400 words
TOPIC: Share a sample of your journalistic writing, not about yourself. We'd like to see your interviewing abilities through the story you tell about someone newsworthy. Photos may be included.

Information Technology: Assistant to the IT Budget Coordinator
Opportunity: High school junior or senior wanted to assist the Budget Coordinator
Projects to include:

Learn how to maintain department files and records
Assist in gathering information for IT Finance projects and update Excel spreadsheets
Scan, label, and catalog contracts and associated documentation
General office duties [filing, photocopying, etc.]
General errands [hand-delivering confidential envelopes, petty-cash reimbursements, answer phones, etc.]

Eligibility

Requirements: Basic Knowledge Of Pc (Word, Excel, Etc.). Applicant Must Be Detail-Oriented And Reliable. Hours From 9:00-5:00 Are Flexible, And A Work Schedule Can Be Arranged Around The Applicant's Schedule.
