Mission
Youth Action Programs & Homes, Inc. (aka Youth Action YouthBuild) is dedicated to building a community of young people and adults committed to taking responsibility for their own lives and for improving the larger community.
Activities
Youth Action YouthBuild (YAYB) is a CONSTRUCTION-BASED youth development program which offers High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma preparation while building construction skill training and related certifications. YouthBuild students develop the skills required for full -time jobs with a living wage and comprehensive benefits while learning how to exercise community leadership. Eligible young men and women aged 17-24 years spend nine months (Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm):
-Participating in construction classes and work site training projects
-Receiving various industry certifications
-Obtaining instruction leading to a high school equivalency diploma, and
-Undertaking community service and leadership development projects all of which are mandatory.
