Mission

El Museo del Barrio recognizes the important role teens have in shaping the cultural landscape of East Harlem and beyond. Because of this, El Museo del Barrio is dedicated to creating a space where teens can explore and create in a supportive environment. Teen programs are designed to empower youth, using El Museo del Barrio’s rich history and art to develop strategies for thinking critically and communicating effectively.

El Museo del Barrio's mission is to present and preserve the art and culture of Puerto Ricans and all Latin Americans in the United States.

Activities

Teens will engage in Dialogue that will enhance knowledge about Latin American arts, culture, and communities while developing effective community engagement skills. Through workshops and professional development opportunities with artists and staff, teens will develop and create a final exhibition or public program.
